Hi David,

please let us know when you get Mary's birth cert and who the mother was on her cert..

Thanks

David

David Report 4 Jul 2010 12:22

No facts at all, just guessing because his death isn't listed in the BMD and that he was a sailor/ships carpenter, the only possible is Dec 1894 in Fylde would not have expected him to have been born as far back as 1832, it's possible i guess, he may have died in a hospital in Fylde perhaps.
If i were to send for this certificate, what would it tell me?

I 've thought that these 2 are very likely candidates in the homes, do you know how i can confirm that these are right? We have the Henry Mckennas birth certificate from the 1st quarter, and lists a sarah flannery as the mother. The proof we have now show 4 different birth years, and last week i sent away again for Marys' birth certificate.so fingers crossed.

But all of this doen't help in my initial query , which was regarding Williams death, any ideas?

Thanks for all you help bye the way.

It's a story that had been passed down the family that Mary was born in 1877/1878, she was, that Henry was born in 1874, he was, that the father left them with a Mrs McManus when Sarah died , cos he had to go to sea, he did. Sarah died whilst Mary was 18mnths old, therefore I don't see that the above Sarah could be correct especially when they don't appear in the 1881 census.

What is rather odd is that there is a family in 1881 census called Mc Kenney. Father William, Mother Sarah , Henry b1874, Mary b1878, but all listed as born in Dublin, and William not being sailor. We are sure the children were born in Liverpool.

Hi,Can you tell me where you looked ?

Cass

David

David Report 3 Jul 2010 17:26

William would have at the latest been born in 1858, i think when i looked every william was too young, or too old. He would have been at the very least 36 when he died.

Hi,There are several William McKenna death registration's, between 1894 & 1899.

What site/s have you been viewing to suggest there are no death record's?.

Here's a few from "Ancestry"

William McKenna 1895,Q1,8b,130,Liverpool
" 1896,Q1,8b,14,Liverpool
" 1898,Q1,8b,67,Liverpool.

Can you tell me how you know that Sarah died 1878 ish,?.

David Report 3 Jul 2010 15:42

Well, where do i begin, we believe he was married to a Sarah, possibly surname Flannery. The wife died in 1878ish, we have not been able to find her birth, death or marriage.Williams name and address is mentioned as next of kin to his son Henry b 1874,when he joined the army in 1894, but is deceased when his son married in 1907 and is also deceased when his daughter mary b1878 married in 1899. William does not seem to appear in any census, henry doesn't appear in any census until 1911 and mary doesn't appear in any census till she is married. Both Henry and mary we believe were put in separate homes/orphages because William was always away, which is probably why we can't find them on the censuses.

David, was he married? If so, have you found his wife as a widow?
Would help to know roughly when he was born and to post census details of when you last found him.
EDIT looking at your post, I am wondering how you have come across him in the first place?
