Eh? knew you had animals but didn't know you had camels!

I was sober NYE as i am most NYE's...i work, so hence the lack of alcohol.... made up for it the following day, a random bumping into of an old friend started an evenings events which were memorable.

You see they have one of those Kinect things, (goes with the Xbox)..... and now we have one of those Kinect things!!

Grrrrr....alot of alcohol and laughter was had by all, and now i am nursing sore shoulders and legs (the activities look great, however the body isn't what it used to be, and the smiles on the telly are fake!)

So after a very sober NYE i spent the first 1 (rolled into the 2nd) day of 2011 totally p*ssed.... infact embarrassingly so! I then proceeded to add to said alcohol level the following 2 days, sooooo now i'm on Tuesday evening, sober as a judge and 1 day down of my diet.

I'm going to get slimmer if it kills me, i figured i'm screwed either way, cos being heavy is also killing me.

I need to learn how to not be a very good cook again....any tips?? ....please don't anyone dare to suggest the indignity of portion control, it's just not possible!!!

Hi all

Rain mixed with snow here ....... and we have a snow warning for overnight, all to be washed away in very heavy rain tomorrow (Wednesday)!!


It's my birfday the end of this week, and OH is worrying about where he will take me for dinner. I've already had my present ......... I bought the earrings before Christmas!


JC .............. do hope No 1 is feeling better. My OH always says what a good patient he is ...... harrumph!

Regarding our trip .............


I got my 3rds and 4ths all mixed up!!

I was absolutely convinced that we got back on Tuesday 4th .............. but the train timetable said Monday 3rd!

So we got back on Monday, but we have been running in little circles since then, and this is the first time I've really had time to spend on the computer!


We had a great time ............ lots of congenial company on the train going, with the usual excellent food.

Then a good time with J, M and MJ ..... although M had a melt down on Christmas Eve with J, and then J had one on Christmas night with me ...... both spats only lasted a short time, and things improved.


MJ is a delight .......... almost always laughing and smiling. I think he has decided crawling is a waste of time ..... he's going to go straight from just sitting there to walking!

We had snow overnight Boxing Day / 27th, which meant that we cancelled a trip to meet up with M's grandmother, a delightful lady who will be 85 in February. She lives about an hour away, but they always get much worse snow than Halifax, and as Halifax got about 5-10 cm snow ............................


Then another great train trip back, with more congenial people. We spent New Year's Eve on the train somewhere in northern Ontario. The chefs cooked a special meal ........... I had the most delicious, tender, beef tournedos that I think I have ever had.

Then there was a party in the lounge of the dome car at the back of the train ............. mainly just chatting, but with some entertainment from a folk singer. Then, close to midnight, there was free champagne and canapes, party hats and noise makers, and several senior members of the train crew (including one of the chefs) came to join in for midnight.

They then began talking about celebrating again in one hour!

We had celebrated on Eastern time, but we were actually in the Central time zone which is one hour behind

OH and I decided we were too tired, and swayed our way back through the 4 carriages to our cabin!


One of the Australian couples on this return trip was from Rockhampton in Queensland, and were extremely worried about the situation there. They kept checking the web at every possible opportunity (ie, station stop) ............ there is no internet availability on these trains. The information they were getting seemed to imply that they would be stuck in Brisbane after they arrive back in Oz on Thursday, with no way of getting into Rockhampton.


There was another couple from Adelaide, and she is a member of GR! I have to look out for Elizabeth, asking Australian type questions, but one of her families is Harbottle .................... which is a good old northern England name! That line most certainly did not go out as convicts!!!

anyone remember Peameal Bacon being mentioned and served some weeks/ months ago??


I had a peameal bacon sarnie one day in Halifax, in a pub overlooking the ahrbour, which looked really rough and grey. AND we had to cross back to the other side of the ahrbour!

Peameal bacon looked a lot like veyr lean irish bacon to me. Tasted very nice though!

Breakfast is ready


Tea, coffee, juices, water

Cold cereals:-
Muesli, Corn Flakes, Oatmeal Crisp, Raisin Bran, Multigrain Cheerios

Hot cereal:-
Porridge


In the warmer:-

bacon, breakfast sausages, ham, black pudding, hash browns, omelettes, scrambled eggs, baked beans

Toast, Danish, croissants

Jams, jellies, marmalade

Quite a good summary of things on here ja...x - it's amazing how quiet it goes when our Canadian friends go walkabout!!

Morning all

Just coffee for me please Sylvia. Sounds like you had a wonderful trip.

I have a busy day FIL invited himself to ours for 9.00am. Had to get OH up so he will be grumpy for awhile. Then it will be hospital for routine x-rays and bloods. Then off to work, end of year accounts:-( Secret Santa and Christmas party to organise. Ours was postponed due to everyone being ill. There is a Vienese Ball which all the girls wish to go too but the bosses are not too keen. I will just ask for votes on what everyone wants to do

Oooo no one here.

I am off to the hospital too for the results of tests.

I hate going to the hospital, it completely drains me and I'm not even the patient.

Went to work, picked it up, come home put it in office, closed the door and put the coffee on. I have a few days to get ready for the audit so will start it later.

Went on facebook. GR have confirmed that lookups will not be allowed on their facebook page.

Been to the BIG town today ....Walked miles to find the place I went especial for but happened to go past the indoor market as well.....Went in the indoor market just to have a look round as you do.......BIG Mistake..
Passed this stained glass lights,clocks,vases,mirrors etc stall........Ooooooeeeeeeeee....Commissioned an Art Deco light with clock face ......Thats my birthday taken care of..
Passed the handbag and wallet/purse stall.......Ooo dear....Thats my belated xmas prezzie taken care of...

I am then asked if I want to finish walking round the market.............Nope....Lets come back just before Feb 14th instead as I did note on that stained glaaaaaaaaaaaa..............................OK I see the door
