Another request

after checking link given by Liz I found I marriage banns between John Alfred Gainsbury and Sarah Anne Burroughs (final calling 24/12/1854) at St Stephens Norwich

Can anyone find the actual marriage record ? Burroughs is a big name in this family but I can't find any marriage other than one for a John Alfred Gainsbury to Elizabeth Hutchin in Leicester in 1856

A lot of names I recognise but I will have a look later, may be something I don't have. There are a lot of Gainsburys buried in the churchyards at Holme Hale and Swaffham. Went up one Sunday for a look around......and a pub lunch of course !!.

You're welcome. If you just put Gainsbury in the surname box and Norfolk, England as the place there are quite a few records that may be of interest to you.

Aldis Gainsbury, 21, married Frances Elizabeth Couzens, 21, on 11 Aug 1872 at Swaffham. His father was John, her's was William.

Thank you I have these records I just couldn't tie Leonard up with the family, in fact I can't find Herbert and Ethel Gainsbury (who we are guessing are his parents) on the 1911 either .

yes I have all the 'older' Gainsburys going back quite a long way and Aldis and Frances (Fanny) are on my tree although I can't find out what her maiden name is either !. They all started out in Norfolk in a village called Holme Hale near Swaffham.

I have the other children born to Herbert and Ethel (they were all born after 1911 when the mother's name was given on BMD record.

They did marry in 1909 though so looks more than a chance that he is their son also, given the timing and the unusual name.

Why would you call your son Darwin ???? unless you too had been saddled with it by your own parents !!

Yes I know, I have bought quite a few certs previously but he is not so important a member of my family that I want to spend money on a cert just yet, there are others I need more !

I figured if I could find him on 1911 that is going to tell me his parents' names and from that I can find their marriage and tie him up with the right branch of the family that way.

You'll need to invest in his birth certificate which will give you his mother's maiden name
