Lucy 1851 did marry James Clack in 1871

Lucy 1851 married James Clack
Mary 1854
Joseph 1858
George 1858?
Mercy 1860 died 1860
Emma 1861
Mark 1863 died 1864.
They only one they didn't have was Esther 1850 died 1863.

I'm confused.
On a previous thread 'Searching for Spouse of John Tomlin' some of the children on this 1861 census are the same as the ones baptised by Charles and Ruth. (Mary, George, Joseph).

These children were on my original tree. I've just removed them thinking they belonged to Charles and Ruth.

If you go to www.rootsweb.com search John Tomlins there are lots of trees with your John.

One has James Tomlin 1715 married to Mary STEPTOE born 1718 Hinton Waldcrist.

It goes down to John Tomlin born 11/6/1819 married @ 1845 to Mary Cutler born 1822 Dracout Moor Berkshire.
Among the children they had was Lucy 1851 married James Clack in 1871.

No, Maureen, I don't think the parentage of the children is in doubt - I would rather think that it's John's parentage which is questionable - possibly born out of wedlock?

There is nothing on the records to suggest ANY doubt about the children - it's ONLY the father who is either/or.......................

On the 1851 census it states that Lucy TOMLIN is the daughter of John and Mary TOMLIN 14 days old.

Sounds like a maiden name of someone that is being passed down to me!

Another batch which I previously thought were belonged to
John were baptised as STEP alias TOMLIN(E) by Charles and Ruth TOMLIN(E)

It looks as if a family of children were split between John and Mary and Charles and Ruth.

Oh dear! It looks as if I have some digging to do as Lucy is my great grandmother. Thanks for this.
