Thank you very much Maddie I am going to study all this information as I am trying to research the ancestors of Peter Jervis born 1854 who I have on 1871 census with parents Joseph and Mary but I can not find in 1861 census I then found a Joseph and Mary right area and places of birth in 1851 census but not 1n 1841 so given the information I have received today I am a little confused so I will have to make sure I am tracing the right family but thankyou all very much for all your help |

Hi Aimmie, I haven't gone into your research, but when in doubt, try looking for 'Jarvis' - 'Gervis' - 'Gerris' and 'Gervais'!!! I have the name Jervis in my tree and it has been down on both census and certificates as any of the above! Not an easy name to follow at times.. Happy hunting. Cx. |
