Hi lancashireAnn.....I think you're right . It looks like William is son of Edwin Hancock & Hannah Rowley married in 1875. That explains why I couldn't relate Sarah properly. Thanks for that.
Any ideas on whereabouts of Frederick Rowley in 1911? See my posting yesterday.

are you sure William's mother is Sarah Rowley?

There are 2 Rowley / Hancock marriages. The 2nd is for a Hannah Rowley who does appear with Prudence in 1871 and William E (grandson) is William Edwin

Staying with the Rowley family....Frederick Rowley born 1866 in Hanley Staffordshire, married Elizabeth Jane L Fowler in 1868 & died in Burnley Lancashire on 3 January 1948. I have him in census records from 1871 to 1901 in Ashton-under-Lyne Lancashire but can't find a trace in 1911 census for either him or Elizabeth. I think she died in 1930 in Ormskirk Lancashire. They had 3 children....Harry,Ida & Lily. none of them married. Harry 1897-1915. Ida 1904-1977 & Lily 1913-1995.
Any ideas?
