Thanks Ann

This makes sense, Alice had a son called Edward and a daughter called Maude.

I have a strong feeling that this is what I've been looking for.

Many thanks, enjoy your G & T

Hi RutlandBelle
Frustrating isn't it.
On the marriage cert father is not marked as deceased.
The 2 witnesses are Edward Robe and Alice Reed.
Alice Reed doesn't seem to have any conncection that I can see, and I'm assuming Edward would be either her father or maybe a brother.
I'm wondering if she has changed her christian name somewhere along the line, I have found this to be the case in other parts of the family.
I am totally at a dead end with her and can't think of any other way around it.
Thank you for your efforts, much appreciated, I was really hoping I'd missed something obvious but maybe not. Been searching for this for ages.

RutlandBelle

RutlandBelle Report 28 Apr 2010 18:12

Julia I know what you mean, I have one of those also who just appears on marriage, no other record.

I looked on 1881 for the first name Edward with occupation Bailiff but none that match that surname.

She should be on 1891 and 1901 as she didn't marry till May but still can't find her.

Did it say father alive/deceased on marriage cert, what about witnesses, any clues there?

♥Julia♥ Report 28 Apr 2010 17:58

Hi all
Thanks for all that.
The Alice Robe, born Tynemouth, isnt right, I've followed that one already, she married in N Shields 1905.
Ailce Mary Robb, father was George Robb. Thanks safc and jax.
Anne - that is the corredt family for Arthur Radford in 1881, parents Robert and Emma, have no problem with them!!!!
Edward Robe christened 1810 is interesting, although probably too old to be her father, grandfather maybe.
As you can see, I am tearing my hair out, sha can't just appear at her marriage.
Thank you all for your input, much appreciated.
many thanks
Julia
