Isabella Sarah Ann Giles was born 19/12/1865.and married Tom J Ruttley on 31/5/1886.Her father was George Andrew Giles ,seaman .Her mother was Ann or Isabella Ann. Family rumour has her maiden name as Bruce.Can anyone find any info on this Bruce idea please.Regards Lynda |

Yes I do think Isabella is the right one as everything else fits datewise and with info in marriages etc.Bear in mind that not many people could read and write in such areas at that time and the info was gatherred by an enumerator at the door so the odd inconsistencies are frequent |

Its nearly midnight here and I have to go to bed and try digesting this.There are so many Ann's and Isabella's in this family .I've only just got over a lot of Sarah Ann's in the last part of my tree.Thanks for your help , any more info is greatly appreciated. Is there any way I can find out the type of seaman George Giles was or what ships he served on, could he have been in the royal navy or whatever they were called then? |

If he was in the RN he should appear in censuses as RN ships were considered Uk Territory but if in the Merchant service I am afraid he will not appear if at sea |
