Hi again Ivy.
I haven't heard of Selina, but I'm motivated now to do some more research into this, people did re-marry very quickly somtimes, I suppose they had to have another Mother or Father for their children, I've come across that quite a lot.
Thanks again. xx

Hi Jan,

Thanks for the 1911 census.

Yes, I second the need for certificates!

Teresa, there is quite a lot of interesting information on certificates that doesn't appear on the indexes. Hope it all pieces together with your grandparents' details.

A possible death for George, although as you say, he seems to have moved around quite a bit:

Name: George Buckle
Death Registration Month/Year: 1918
Age at death (estimated): 70
Registration district: Stow On The Wold
Inferred County: Gloucestershire

As George is Teresa's great-grandfather, I think we need to know who her grandfather/mother is! A birth cert would really help her here.

Possible death, although Elizabeth not Eliza?

Elizabeth Buckle abt 1856 1886 Stow On The Wold Gloucestershire, Worcestershire

If George b Turkdean and George m to Selina are one and the same, and that individual is your ancestor, then there is a likely trail thru' the census returns for a young widower in Aston Blank in 1891 with the same children in Condicote in 1881 m to Eliza b Upper Slaughter.

If so, the marriage to Selina is probably a second marriage?

Ivy Report 18 Apr 2010 07:56

Looking for any Buckle individuals born Turkdean in Gloucs, there are never more than 4 on any census. Only one census has a George Buckle:

1861
Name: George Buckle
Age: 11
Estimated birth year: abt 1850
Relation: Son
Father's Name: Aurther
Mother's Name: Marther
Gender: Male
Where born: Turkdean, Gloucestershire, England

Civil parish: Notgrove
Ecclesiastical parish: Gloucester
County/Island: Gloucestershire
Country: England

Registration district: Stow On The Wold
Sub-registration district: Bourton on the Water
ED, institution, or vessel: 4

Household schedule number: 6
Household Members:
Name Age
Aurther Buckle 36
Marther Buckle 35
William Buckle 12
George Buckle 11

This does place him close to Stow as a child

- and with that assistance, family are in Newport in 1911, indexed as Whillington

Hi Teresa.
The first thing that comes to mind is - how accurate is your information? I'm wondering if that relative just sent you information but no actual evidence.
If this is the case, you might need to back-track a bit.
Can I ask where George fits in to your family? Do you have a child of his, for example. Need to start with something definite here.

Hi brummiejan.
Sorry for delay in getting back.
Can't paste entry of 1901, I was sent that by a distant relative, presumed it was ok.
Seems strange that George you sent yesterday matches with mine except for the 10 yr age difference.
Thanks for your time.

Hi Starr1.
We thought they lived and stayed in Gloucester, but I suppose they could have moved with work. George was a waggoner on farm in 1901 census.
