just realised that on 1881 frederick is with Lucy 'mapledoram' amd there is a child called Lucy Berry with them as a 'lodger' then later on (1891) he is possibly mistranscibed/falsely named as Richard and with Lucy Berry- (I thnk this backs up the Berry/Mapledoram connection-I don't think they ever did marry -then death of Lucy Berry in 1903-and marriage of Fred to Elizabeth Little end 1903.-they both said they were widows-but actually don't think either had actually married before!

poor elizabeth was the daughter od Harriet and William (on 1861) by 187 age 11 in workhouse with mum-she stayed there .looks like Elizabeth had child william there. came out ut lefit her mum there.

surprise! can't find a Mr Little marriage to Elizabeth!!!

Certainly looks like it.

Murray is obviously a mistranscription. As Lucy seems to be Berry in other censuses, and no record of a Lucy Murray in Exeter.

William is def mine-and he James C Mapledoram is James Curry Mapldoram-his mother was Mary Curry. so looks Like Fred in the war with Elizabeth (and maybe Lucy andmaybe he was calledRichard in between!) was descended from My William and Mary/Emma then?

I cannot find aRichard Mapledoram or similar on anything excep the lastly posted census-really puzzled now!

I think the younger Lucy is Lucy's child from a previous marriage/relationship.

Thought he was married before.

no-I havent found another fred-but no marriage for fred/lucy or ad eath for a Lucy Mapledoram either.-doesn't look like fred/lucy had children so maybe they weren't married and her death was reistered as her real name-clutching at straws I know-Yes I think thats the later marriage too.

I did find this though-wondered if Richard may be Fred-they were in trouble an awful lot-so chang of name could be prudent-an with a Lucy? will check it out-thnks for your help
