Yes this could very well be him as it is in the right area and on Johns wedding cert his father James occupation was down as labourer. |

No I havent tried any of these, I have tried one for June 1843 - 27 30 and March 1843- 27 30 but not the one you have for Sept 1843 - 27 46 , I obviously didnt see this one so I will keep my fingers crossed and order it. |

Hi Gai - I was thinking along those lineas that may be he was Thomas James Richards or vice versa but how do I go about getting a birth cert if I dont know which as its costing me a fortune. |

Could John's father have used both names? - "proper" name Thomas and "family" name James? My great great grandmother was sometimes Sarah , sometimes Ellen - it wasn't until I found a WW1 death record for her son where her name was recorded as Sarah Ellen (ie. both names) that I realised Sarah and Ellen were one and the same and had to start all over again! |

I am trying to find the birth records of my gr-grandfather John Richards born around Newport in Pembrokehire in 1843 my mother tells me that the family came from Trewreiddig farm, and in the 1871 and 1861 censuses the parents names were Thomas and Sarah Richards. I have had his marriage cert for 11th Sept 1866 and this records his fathers name as James Richards?? so which is it? I have looked up the BMD freesearch and there are so many with same name born around the same time in the same area that it is proving expensive to order a cert as I have tried odering 6 certs awith cross-refs and they all come back with the same- 'fathers name not James'. Can someone please help me sort this out as its driving me nuts!. |
