Hi all, Quick update! As we suspected there were no parents on Richard and Eliza's marriage certificate, except Thomas Savage, Eliza's father. Still on my quest for Richard's parents, I asked a very kind person on the BHForum to search all the Worralls, pearl button makers in the trade directories , i've a lovely list of names; lots of searching and checking to do now. They are there to see for interested Worralls and the kind people who helped me on this thread. Best regards Lu

I use find my past for census returns. I just used search terms for WORRALL residence Birmingham.
also try WORR*ll WORR*L W*R*L
Thought you could post a query on the birmingham forum.
Also try rootschat as they have occupation boards and area boards.

Yes, Ladykira, good idea I tried a B'ham 1818 trade directory , I think googling found it a few days ago,no worralls making buttons though. i also saw a youtube demo of pearl button making.two years ago there was a news story of how this trade was to become extinct as only one craftsman left. I went to the above link and found a forum but couldn't find anything connected. Not sure if looking well?! Did you know there is some interesting stuff about Brum on www.bham.de? Many thanks %))

It is good to learn about other near matches so that when you come across a record it is easier for you to eliminate or not. So good to talk and help each other out.
Just looking at a selection of Worrals in Birmingham reveal a variety of button linled professions so maybe some googlin is a good idea. He employed people so maybe in a trade directory. You may find a history of button makers in your local history library.

That is wonderful, all of you,Ladykira,Astra,Batman's Daughter, (Sorry I was just forced to have a cuppa with a friend who can find her ancestry simply by googling, slightly annoying , but I've taught her everything i know, not much and she insisted she told me all about it!) I'm much clearer how I shall go about searching now.. I'll try all of those leads and tips. You've helped me in may ways. %)))

A possible clue where to look?
There are not many Worrals born in Birmingham 1851 and most would be to young to be his parents.
This family however may be related. if not his parents then maybe uncle. certainly worth a look.

Thanks Astra I don't think I 've looked well enough or thought it was the marriage of the other Richard Worrall (1821)! I'm still a bit of a novice and flit between branches of my tree so not as systematic as I should be. Very kind of you, that should help.

Hi Lulibell,
have you also considered ordering Jane Worralls marriage cert? She was alittle older than Richard.......... so maybe she may have remembered more if they lost their parents when Richard was little???
