ok this is what i know John Chapman was in the forces and went over to ireland in Dublin around 1916 to serve when there was conflict ... i don't know birth date. i believe he came from somewhere called churchsaxton ??? but can't be sure.he married a irish woman don't know her name either what i do know is that my grandmother was born in dublin Evelyn sophie Chapman 7.1.1919 ther were other children Ruth , david and i think the wife had been married before.. i have heard that John chapman came back to england and died in nottingham i don't know when. i aslo was told he had got injured whilst serving ... my grandmother and her siblingings came to england and lived in Nottingham ... would love some information if anyone knows who he married in ireland .. when he died his prents ect.. |

I did a quick search on 1911 census for John Calvert, Soldier and the only one to show is this one:- |

You can get the certificate from GRO in Roscommon in Ireland. Quote the refernces and they reduce the price to 8 euros but you can get a copy of the entry cheaper. They will accept cash euros if you send it signed for. |

i don't know if that would be him or not i don't have place or date of birth i once heard an uncle say he came from cambridgeshire way but who knows the only thing i am sure about is his name and the fact my gran now passed was born in dublin |

Thanks rootgatherer when i have some cash spear i'll send of for them . can't wait to find out who my gran's mum was. my gran had a hard life in ireland and spent some time in care i think a workhouse. before she left taking her brother and sister with her to england. |

No Catherine i don't i do know he died in birkin avenue Radford / hyson green my uncle told me that some years ago my uncle was born in 1947 and he remember seeing him but that's not much help is it |

that could be interesting i wonder where in cambridge that john chapman was born you know soham where them 2 girls were kild i think it's near there i remember my uncle saying he lived near there. i must have listerned harder than i thought i am starting to remember little details like that now |

The John Chapman in the 1911 census was born in Cambridge, and was a Lance Corporal in the North Stafford Regiment. |

not got marriage certificate she married my grandad george Harry spencer in about 1945 i think in london she was also in the forces them bararge balloon things in you know what i mean |

i think my john chapman might have been born in 1890 i found a death in nottingham and the found a birth of a john chapman in lidgate Suffork very near a place called Saxton and when i looked at the census i found the mother's name to be Sophia my gran's name was Evelyn sophia Chapman not been able to find arm records yet can anyone help |
