Hi there

Had a bit of time to think about this one. I have been in touch with the MAEustace tree on Ancestory which has turned out to be my great uncles son who is also on this hunt to find out what happened to Edith Mary Eustace. I was told she died when her children were young but according to my canadian uncle she apparently tried to make contact with her son In canada in the early 1940 he did not want to see her and I am wondering if the death in Dartford kent is her, but where is the record to say she returned to the Uk.Is there anywhere else we can look or go to to find her. We have been told that she may have been the cause of the break up of her sisters marriage her sister is Florence Cutler married name Salaman she was married to ernest`S` Salaman and it appears that the Eustaces and Salamans lives were closley entwined. According to my Canadian relative Salaman was a solicitor and had Power of Attorney for John Eustace, Salaman then used this to defraud my Uncle. Florence Salaman divorced ernest in 1919 and my G Grandmother when to Canada in 1919. Any help would be great as I am at a loss as to what to do next

Hi Christine,

I’m Lauren, Winifred’s (Edith’s daughter) granddaughter ( daughter of her son Richard). I’m also trying to find out what happened to Edith. Did you manage to get to the bottom of things?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Get a copy of the death cert..................the informant's details may prove helpful, unless she died in the institution, in which case the informant would probably be a staff member

Thanks Erika.

I’m new here and am trying to find out whether she was away into an asylum for ? Having an affair. Is there any way of getting to the bottom of this? A list of people resident at the London lunatic asylum in dartford?

Thanks so much for your help

This is so interesting Erika, thank you.

So she did inhabit the asylum. Also looks like she went to Canada and then returned. How fascinating. I wonder why.

Presumably she visited her son who was living in Canada.

The OP is no longer a member.........

The info I posted relates to the woman whose father was William

alviegal

alviegal Report 8 Mar 2025 14:07

John Eustace was a 'gentleman' as was his father Edwin and Edith's father, William.

Ernest and Florence Salaman were witnesses. William Cutler and Susannah? M Eustace also have their names added.

I think the Ediths going to and from Canada are a different person. The address given for Edith in ErikaH's post is 2 Argyll Street, Ealing. This Edith is married to Charles Eustace. They also went to Australia in 1922 but returned and Edith died in 1924.
