I never have found the birth of Sarah Margaret Brown/Cowel/l under either surname,I even tried her mothers maiden name of Gordge,try as I might it eludes me.
But it was not compulsory to reg births until about 1875,so maybe she wasnt reg.

It would seem that Sarah Margarets mother remarried if her maiden name was Brown as this marriage ref says.
Therefore they need to be searched for under Brown and Cowell.

In same street when Rose baptised.

it seems by your replies that she was liviing .with her mother in law and brother in law perhaps that is why i cannot find her on the 1881 census. it gets very confusing. thanks again sandra.

If she married in 1890 then she would be in her own home in 1891,but I cant find any of them in 1881.
