Wickham records do not appear to be included in the IGI.

There are some online transcriptions at:

http://www.knightroots.co.uk/transcriptions/Parishes_W/Wickham/Wickham.htm

Hi Pete,

Thanks for your reply..........I have found the same Knightsroots.

Would this mean that the only way to is to buy a CD with the batch numbers on ?

It really depends what period and records you need.

Take a look at the Genuki page for Hampshire as you might find that the relevant FHS has transcriptions available

Have you checked the LDS (familysearch catalogue) ?
They have not filmed every parish everywhere.

I have the following Hampshire Indexes done by the Hampshire Genealogical Society

Marriages 1754=1837
Baptisms 1752 -1841
Buriels 1400-1837

Can I help or are you back before 1750 ?

Pamela

This is going to be a challenge !!

All the baptisms for John and Sarah's children are for DAYSH aka INGS

The only other John DAYSH baptised at Wickham is 12 Jul 1767 s Edward & Elizabeth (nee Smith) (they married in 1765 at Droxford)

There is a John INGS baptised 05 Feb 1786 at Wickham
and
the only Sarah INGS is baptised13 Mar 1763 which would make her a bit old to be producing babies in 1810 !

I cannot find a Daysh /Ings marraige at all !!

The Daysh's go back to the 1500 in Wickham (buriel index)

I see from the Hampshire RO website that Edward DAYSH died in 1804 and left a Will, there may be something in it that explains it all

The Hampshire RO will do photocopies of documents (for a fee !!) the reference number is on the site and you can get a quote before committing yourself to anything

(CALM database)

Hi Elizabeth, Howard and Julie,
Thank you all for the info (sorry about getting back to you today.........had to take my old auntie shopping) All the info you have provided is very useful and I shall certainly follow it up.

As you can see I have spent alot of time trying to trace this grx4 grandfather............the Ings and Daysh part of his name are not always used together............theres no answer yet as to why the Wickham PR's used the word "alias" when the children were registered and by the next generation the family had dropped the Ings bit !!!! One of his sons (John Ings Daysh b. 1805) emigrated to New Zealand in 1841 and his family are considered one of the founding families of Wellington !
Thanks again,
Pam

Hi Everyone,
I am using this thread today as I am still on the trail of the INGS AND INGS DAYSH family that lived in and around WICKHAM HAMPSHIRE from the 1700 to 1800's.
I have found in a 1947 COPY of the family tree of the DAYSH family a reference to a JOHN INGS DAYSH b. 1795 and d. 1857 at Wickham. CAN ANYONE CONFIRM THIS ? AND WHO ARE HIS PARENTS. Thanks so much to Elizabeth for her help so far on this topic.
Regards,
Pam

My mystry is WHO was the other John Ings Daysh b. 1795 d. 1857 ? I am trying to find the parents.

There is no John Ings Daysh on free bmd dead in 1857.
Do you think someone incorrectly copied information or got it completely wrong?

Pamela

Pamela Report 23 Jan 2011 11:48

Looks like it ! It's a shame really...........the Ings Daysh family are so hard to find before 1804............... I thought I had found a real "ureka" moment ! Many thnaks for your help.

Hi Pamela

Cannot see a John Ings/Daysh or similar born around 1795=who did he marry ?

Have you looked at the Hampshire ROs "CALM" database ?
If you enter the "DAYSH" name in it's different forms ("DASH" "DAISH")
there are a lot of documents held-they appear to have been quite well off !

There is a copy of Probate for Henry Ings Daysh of Sherwell Heath Wickham proved 10 March 1862

I think he is the one baptised at Wickham 27 April 1805 Henry DAYSH aka INGS s John & Sarah

Hi Elizabeth,
Good to hear from you.................the last lot of info you found for me about John and Elizabeth INGS having their children baptised at Wickham in the 1750's was very useful. It lead me on to more of the Ings family and possible ancestors.
My mystry at present is where the connection of INGS to the DAYSH families is. Henry Ings Daysh is my gr gr gr uncle and I have a copy of the probate. As you say there is alot of interesting info on "CALM" DATABASE.
This is important ........................was Henry recorded as Henry DAYSH aka INGS.................................. or Henry INGS aka Daysh ? Many thanks.
RE: John INGS DAYSH b. 1795.................I found a referenc to him on a Daysh family tree compiled in 1947.................but there is no more info.
Regards,
Pam
