	This is a somewhat interesting person, in 1861 Name: William Vergis Age: 21 Estimated birth year: abt 1840 Relation: Soldier Gender: Male Where born: Cardline, Devon, England Civil parish: Farnborough County/Island: Surrey ED, institution, or vessel: Foot Regiment 29 North Camp Farnborough Another military Vergis about the same age -- possibly a brother? If Bernard's father was himself military, it could even explain births of sons in different places. I know my Devon reasonably well and I don't know what Cardline is; that's what it looks like, but there's no such animal. 1891 Name: William Vergis Age: 51 Estimated birth year: abt 1840 Relation: Head Spouse's name: Elizabeth Gender: Male Where born: Crediton, Devon, England Occupation: valet - a not unlikely occupation for ex-military
