Thanks for all this so far Ann, you've been busy!!! and I'm glad that you came across your grandmother in the search!! It seems there are links to LOADS of Crocketts across the area doesn't it.

Really intersted to get hold of the marriage cert now between Lewis and Elizabeth Crockett to see who her parents were as I have a feeling they ran away on their own to get married, she was only 18 at the time. Apparently she was living with relatives in Llandovery (not sure why) and the story goes.....her and Lewis sold everything they had to buy themselves shoes to walk from either Llandovery to Merthyr or Merthyr to Tonyrefail (not sure if they had kids at this point, but a sad story in a way.

You mentioned that you St.Hilary well, I wonder if you could advise me of any info you have on Rev.Crockett and his family perhaps?

I done a search for him on this site and notice that he was said to be living in Bath/Devon in 1891 at around the age of 12 and residing at a private school (Western School).

His wife was Enid Muriel and his daughter (who died in 2002) was Muriel Crockett. I visited St.Hilary some years ago and the lady residing at The Rectory was very friendly. At the time they were looking for living relatives and had found some in England I think as Muriel had just died and they needed to sort out the estate. My only regret is that I didn't ask them for pictures from the house or books etc and not sure what happened to it all. I know there was a huge picture of my Great Uncle in the house

I'll try to connect the information I've been so kindly given by posters now with regard to Elizabeth Ann Roberts. She married Lewis Crockett in Apr/May/June 1904 in Vaynor Chapel, Merthyr Tydfil.

What I'm going to have to find out now are the names of her parents which I assume I would now contact Merthyr Tydfil Register Office to obtain the marriage certficate? She's proved a little elusive up until now but I blame that on my lack of time to ge to these places to obtain such info. Is there another way I could be doing this?

Oooh ok I'm a bit confused but think you mean to keep all my family on one thread? Hope so!

The Lewis who is cited below I believe to be the Rev.Lewis Crockett of St.Hilary in Cowbridge. He married Enid Muriel (dont know her unmarried name) and they went on to have a daughter Muriel who passed away in 2002. She lived with her mother and father in The Rectory in St.Hilary until Rev.Lewis Crockett retired from his position and during this time he wife also died at a relatively young age. They (Rev.Lewis and Muriel) then lived in The Nest, St.Hilary directly opposite The Rectory. Lewis' mother is buried in Capel y Ton in Tonyrefail which unfortunately caught fire about 2yrs ago taking anything and everything with it...graves still remain.
