I have also now found that Jane died in 1877 in East Bridgford.

Joanne

Joanne Report 1 Jan 2010 16:58

I also now have in 1841 John, Mary, William and Jane all siblings I think living with a Richard Patchett in Screveton. Near them are also Edward and Elizabeth Patchett and an Edward and Ann Patchett with their children Sarah, James and Ruben!

Sorry - meant to say in 1861!

Joanne

Joanne Report 1 Jan 2010 16:44

I have found Jane as Jane Podget working as a housemaid in Kneeton for Edward Hill in 1871! He was a farmer of 230 acres, unmarried so a poss father if Jane is William/Willey's mother??

Joanne Report 1 Jan 2010 10:27

Hi all, thanks for all the info, seems promising! Maybe the rumours weren't true?? Although I see the address on one census is 'Old Hall??. I have ordered the parish record transcripts for the area and will order the birth certificate and let you know!
Thanks again, Jo.
Happy New Year!

Joanne
Do please come back and let us know what Willie's birth cert says -we like to hear the end of a story!

Its possible Jane could be William's mother but she would then be sister to Thomas?
here is Thomas in 1861 and 1851 with the same siblings (John and Mary) all of them unmarried though that doesnt necessarly mean that John for instance could not be the father of William (1865)
1861 Screveton
John Padgett 59 Ag lab
Thomas 50 Bro Ag Lab
Mary 68 Housekeeper
William 26 nephew
Ann 8 niece all b Screveton

1851 Screveton
John Patchet (sic) 49 Ag Lab
Thomas 40 Ag lab
Mary 38 (think this should be 58) HK
William 14 Errand boy
Jane 11 all b Notts

Well done Gillian! No wonder I couldn't find him. Here it is. Jane seems to be a lot older than William and Mary. Could she be their mother?
