Find Ancestors

I really need help on this one, or maybe it is staring me in the face I can not see it.

I can not find David Salkeld b. 1836 - 1837 on either the 1841 or the 1851 census.

I have all the other censuses, his wedding to Elizabeth Williamson, the birth of his children and all the family after that.

His fathers name was Jacob and maybe his mother was Isabella (found a christening record with that name).

Can not find him with Jacob or anyone else.

I have posted the 1861 census for info.

Need help with this family again.

Jacob Salked was born 1813 Longtown Cumberland.
He married Isabella Watson in 1833 at Gretna Green.
They had a son David (see previous thread).

I can not find them anywhere in 1841. In 1851 I found Jacob living in Durham with Mabel Salkeld (and many others). No David.

Jacob marries again in 1865. Have found him in all censuses after 1851 until his death in 1885.

Problems: No marriage to Mabel. No death for Isabella. No David anywhere until 1861.

Can anyone help. This part of the family is driving me insane.

Still no Jacob or David though.

No luck really. Several Isabella deaths on freebmd which might or might not fit:

A long shot, but given the location just possible they wandered over to Scotland maybe? Suggested this to another member recently and it turned out to be the case.

Did a google search, and someone in the guild of one-name studies is researching Salkeld. Will PM the details to you.

Looks like you are having a really good go at researching the Salkeld`s of Hexham a family history challenge if ever there was one !!

In my records I have Jacob Salkeld married three times

1) Isabella ? could be the marriage to Isabella Watson at Gretna

2) Mabel Allan married 1846 in Newcastle Upon Tyne
