This shows that address was occupied in 1901 - but one needs to purchase credits to view the details, and there is no way of knowing whether she was at that address when the 1901 census was taken. She may have used the address in order to get married in a church of her choice, or to save having two lots of Banns read.

Hi Zena,

Struggling to find a Charles Townsend in the census in the right area.

On Familysearch.org I have found a baptism for an Albert Townsend 8/4/1889 in Birmingham, parents Charles and Emma Townsend, possible sibling to Alice ?????? This is an extracted record which I found when clicking on the batch number for an Alice Townshend also Birmingham (1885) but her father was Edward.

PM from Zena

Witnesses at the marriage of Alice and Sam were Leonard Fleeney and Polly Smith.

It is much better Zena if you add answers directly on here for everyone to see instead of replying personally to the one asking the question.

The 1911 census will be the best place to start to see where she was born

Freewheel

Freewheel Report 19 Nov 2009 21:04

This would be her birth, I imagine

Births Jun 1882 (>99%)

Townsend Alice May Birmingham 6d 47

Although, there isn't an Alice Townsend matching the birth with a father Charles on 1891 census

Freewheel

Freewheel Report 19 Nov 2009 21:03

Have you tried looking for her birth? It will be on freebmd

Presumably, the father's name is from the marriage cert? What was his occupation?
