Hi Maria - Madmeg and I have compared findings and came up the same, except for info that you had supplied to her that I didn't have. Maybe Madmeg can do the same and send the info to carrieann?

I have a heavy work week on my hands so I can be a sounding board maybe, but I think Madmeg has a good handle on it -- I'd just say that if you do have any other info, be sure to give it to her, and when she recommends buying a particular marriage certificate, she's speaking for me too. ;) (Note - the mother's birth surname, queried by carriann, is precisely the issue there - if she had been married before, that's the name that would show on a birth registration, and the marriage certificate is what will tell that.)

Madmeg -- to see the "-" surname I mentioned, click on the button beside the name in the tree search results!

Hi Maria
I assume you don't know her first name...do you know what her mother's maiden name is? Maybe PM it if you feel it's 'date' sensitive??

Do you know whether he has any children other than the daughter you mention? If one could be located, an approach through them might get a better reception.

Maria

I owe you an apology. I incorrectly assumed your dad didn't know of your existence and it would be distressing for him for you to make contact.

Of course you must look for him, and I wish you well.

Incidentally, I recently discovered the name Hutchings in my own tree, though haven't got round to pursuing it yet.

Best wishes

Margaret

Hi Maria
Pam mentioned New Zealand white pages. There are some possibles there, including the initial 'T'. Maybe Tony?? Whilst I realise his other family have been shocked by this, I hope you trace him, it must be really upsetting and frustrating for you and you have every right to try to make contact. Genes Reunited hopefully.

Maria

It obviously came as a shock to the daughter to learn of your existence, or to have you contact her. There is not a lot you can do without upsetting the family, which I'm sure you wouldn't want.

Please help me.I found my fathers new family on genes reunited,he has a daughter called xxx xxxxxx-Hutchings who stopped all contact with me when she found out we shared the same father.I am devastated, after 45 years of looking for him i did not expect the rejection, also i am almost sure he has not been told i am asking after him. His name is ANTHONY HUTCHINGS born 1933 in PLYMOUTH,DEVON ,UK but now living in NEW ZEALAND has done since the early 70s. I know he has more children and I would be so grateful if anyone has any information that would help me? I just want to be able to say hello and how are you to my dad. Thank you. Maria . PS I would still like us to talk xxx as I think we have both been kept in the dark , upsetting for us both. PLEASE get back in touch.

THANK YOU so much to you all for all your help. I have ' with all your help ' found my dad and a great family that i never knew i had : ) Happy endings thanks to genes and all of you who make it work. Bless you all.
Maria x
