Have you found him on census and then followed the family back to 1891 to see if Henry was married before 1891?

i found is baptism for this lady and mother is ada thats all i have looked at but she would like the marriage

I think she will have to buy the birth cert which will give her his mother's maiden name

Never pay more than £7--from GRO with with index num &page etc.

From the wording, it is unclear whether it is Ada or Henry who's BLATHERWICK.

I did wonder if the middle name was a clue to the parents

1901 has a Henry and Ada Thompson with son Robert but that is a mad guess

I don't know what anyone else thinks but I would suspect this couple were not married. The child Robert registered in mother's name but given father's surname as a middle name. The birth cert should give the father's name if he agreed or went to register the birth with the mother,

On FreeBMD no marriages come up between a Thompson and a Blatherwick with the correct forenames right up to 1930.

There is a marriage though in 1920 for a Robert T Blatherwick

Hi, i,ve just seen this thread, thanks all for helping, i,ve now found the marriage thanks to Sharon.

Also found them in the census now, seems like they just added the name Blatherwick for some reason.
