Find Ancestors

I have a Susannah Miles born 1827 Hastings Sussex. She was not with her family in 1841 and would like to know where she was then. I found two marriages for a Susannah Miles one in 1857 to either Joseph Alderton or Harry Winton and one to Henry Mann or Henry Newman. I am thinking it could be to Henry Mann because I have her two sisters married into the Mann family. Is it possible somebody could help me please.

This Susannah Miles on the 1841 was not born in Essex according to the 1841 "not born in County"

Hi Vera, thank you for your help but I am not sure. Where it says Essex is that where she is living in 1841. Does it say she was born in Sussex at all. Sorry about this but I am not really sure which it is..... Just as I had submitted this I received your message that it says she was not born in the county which means it is possible. Did it say what she was doing by any chance

Julia, No problem......it doesn't state on the 1841 unfortunately exactly where anyone was born......it just states if they were born in the county.....she is living in Essex.....

It looks like she is living with a Mary Miles aged 20....and in the same building is a Thomas and Helena Allen and he is a mariner

On the 1861 have found a Sussanna ( so many different spellings !!) married to a Henry Winton states she was born in Brighton. She was born in 1834.

About the marriage you found it is possible that is not the correct one because of the year. The marriage for that one was in 1857 but I didn't know the age of Susannah. I think maybe the marriage to one of the Henry's could be correct
