Find Ancestors

Have just received a letter from an elderly member on my Husbands side of the ffamily-did a letter last week and had a lovely reply back-with a photo! really chuffed. Only thing is he reckons that the place I thought his grandparents came from is somewhere different! Now He is possibly going on what he was told by his Father-who is long gone-so I may still be right-bnut I need to check it out as I'm panicking now!

Can someone please help

For definite we Have Frederick Tapp born1889 Exeter Devon. Hisparents George and Elziabeth Tapp (nee Atkins)
My relative seems to think that Freerick came to Exeter from Exminster Devon as a child with siblings Bess Fred Bill and Frank.-his dad worked on a farm and they had to leave as he got ill-and then came to Exeter. Can anyone find any evidence of this.

As far as I have it George Had always been in Exeter born about 1859. Although I have not been able to locate him 1in 1881 so I suppose he could have lived there for a while.

Father is a Fish Dealer.

We have got the marriage cert-but theres a problem! It names his father as George Tapp-a mason. However the only one we can find is-His mother's brother!! (Who had died by the time of the marriage. His mother was unmarried (susan tapp) when he was born-there is no birth recorded for him either. we think he just put that rather than put nothing-unless anyone else cxan suggest anything else!

Yes I think they seem to be only in Exeter-wish I could find George on 1881 though-but have looked and looked and just not there.

Thats right-Thats what I have for 1871-susan and George and Bessy- on 1861 they are all down as Webber living in Catherine street-then by 1862 Susan is back as Tapp and there was a right to-do-she refused to go into the workhouse with newborn twins as she was too ill to care for them-and they died-she almost had the death scentence. she then moved to Smythen street with her brother George (!)-still not clear who actually fathered her children either-the mind boggles.

No sign of Exmister though-although there were Tapps there
I wonder if he was told Exmister rather than the real murky details!
