Oh Sonja!!

Seems some work has already been done!

Sonja, best to keep your posts as simple as possible- one query at a time.

At some point, if you wish to be accurate in tracing your family, you will need to purchase your father's birth certificate.

It might be worth searching the GR trees for other people that are researching your family.

Best wishes.
Helen

Sonja
Why have you started this thread when you already have one and some of the info has already been found for you?

Hello Sonja,

Do you have your father's birth certificate? His birth certificate should give you his parent's names- you should always start with something you know and work backwards.

When you have his birth certificate, you can use those details to see if his parents married.

Just ask if you need help tracing your father's birth certificate.

Helen x

Hello Christine

I haven't made it to the last part of the post yet!- very difficult to follow. Hopefully Sonja will come back and tell us if we're getting warm :)

Hello Helen
I did not see you there. It is difficult to follow isn't it. There is no apparent connection between the names in the first part of the post and the second.

Difficult to follow Sonja-

As far as I can tell this could be your family in 1911:

GREAVES JAMES M 1874 37 Worksop Nottinghamshire
GREAVES ALICE F 1874 37 Worksop Nottinghamshire
GREAVES IDA F 1898 13 Worksop Nottinghamshire
GREAVES EDWARD M 1900 11 Worksop Nottinghamshire
GREAVES SARAH F 1901 10 Worksop Nottinghamshire
GREAVES JOHN M 1903 8 Worksop Nottinghamshire
GREAVES GRACE F 1905 6 Worksop Nottinghamshire
GREAVES JAMES WALTER M 1907 4 Worksop Nottinghamshire

Looks like Alice is still alive in 1911???

I think this could be Alice's death:

Deaths Sep 1923

Hi Sonja

I have tried to dispher this as best as possible to see if anyone can help.

I must admit I am still confused. You had best check through and make sure you have all the correct information.

My gm was Sarah Greaves,1901 census as living in Whitwell with father James, mother Alice.siblings Gertrude age 5yr,Maude-4yr,Ada3yr, Edward1yr and Sarah 3mths. They came from Sheffield. possible connection to Norton

After1901 Walter,Grace were born and possibly Thomas??. Alice died before 1911. I am sure Sarah was then taken care of by a lady i known referred to as "old granny Lowe.who in 1901 was down as being neighbours of my family. James i think moved to Worksop and remarried a lady who owned a wool shop/on Newcastle Avenue. He also he lived on King street Worksop and Westgate.

Grace or Gert went on to marry someone with name Shepherd. the names of Gwen and daughter Cynthia i vaguely remember being mentioned when i was small.

Cynthia married Peter/and went on to have children 1 of which i know was called Alana.they lived in Peacehaven down South.

Sarah married Tom/Thomas Richardson in about1929ish and had 2 sons Stanley and Alan, born 5/10/36. Stan was couple years older. Tom had been married to his 1st cousin before he married Sarah.Healso had strong connections with Worksop Town F.C he died in 1974. Sarah in 1984.names connected to Sarah-Brunt/Sheperd/Lowe also someone she knew well ran the Unicorn pub in Worksop.also the parents of Tom or Sarah don’t know which thou did own the Ship inn in Worksop for a number of years

Tom had a brother George and had son called Derek. Derek had son called Nigel. My godmother wa s"aunty Marjorie who lived in New Manton in the1970/80s

Tom and Sarah’s eldest son Stanley lived at Eakring was married and had a daughter called Pearl, maybe more children. hH married a scotch lady and had 2 sons Paul around 1968 and Glen 1972.they lived around Edwinstowe area

Stan and Margaret both are buried there.
Alan is still alive and had Anthon John known as John in 1960. Mark in 1966 and Sonja in 1970/71.

if anyone knows anything about any of these family’s could you let me know please.

Alan married Mary Rutherford in 1958. Alan’s children’s mother she was from Gateshead.

Just a point please check your Caps are not on lock next time very very difficult to read otherwise.

I also notice that some of the people are still "living" as this is an open forum I would be very cautious of what you place on the boards.

Have you checked the search trees at the top of this page

I tried to paragraph this for you Sonja but it really is not easy on the eye in capitals, my brain hurts!
I feel you will get more help if you re-type & paragraph it

We're all waiting ;-

any chance you could do that again without the caps and some paragraphs. It is so hard to read as it is :(
