May have struck a problem with that birth record, looks like that William Nelson died in August of 1907. |

Why are you sure that he was born in East Lothian? |

Only solutions I can think of is that either the family moved or that the mother was somewhere else for that birth, or William wasn't his given name at the time the birth was recorded, possibly a middle name. Only Nelson child born in East Lothian in the whole of 1908 was female. |

You have certainly given me food for thought and I will have to do a bit of digging. Probably have to revisit Scotland. |

Have you been on ScotlandsPeople? Might save you a trip, but not the cash! |

William, Charles and Isabella were all born after 1901 and all emigrated to Canada and there the trail seems to end. I don't mind having trips back home to Scotland, but as you suggest I will try Scotlands People. |

I know very little about the Nelsons lives in Canada apart from the fact that they lived in Toronto. I looked at the Family Search site which showed that a William Nelson had lived in Ontario and had died in America. What led me to believe that it was my William Nelson was the similarity in ages. |
