So IF his mother was an emma it would pretty well have to be an emma tretheway.

again thankyou all so very much i have been trying for so long you see my grandfarther was born out side of marrage and was registered at birth as james scant bowden tretheway he was brought up by his aunt in tavistock devon, we were told his mums name was emma could not find an emma tretheway in the correct age range and area but came accross emma bowden in 1901 census as a step daughter of john s tretheway i hope you can all understand why i am finding it so hard to get the right person

i have my grand farthers short birth certifcate have ordered full and i have his full death cetificate i do know that his aunt who i think is his step aunt took him at birth and never had any children i do have letters post cards sent to my grandfarther has a child from who i think is his mum
