No I don't think so Ann. Most of the Trokes seem to come from Dorset but there doesn't appear to be a connection to my Devon Trokes, but thanks for looking. Jayne |

Thanks Pollypocket, I hadn't found the 1841 census but I do have this Troke family back to the early 18th century. Its really his elusive wife that I am searching for. I'm sorry I didn't make myself very clear. I thought if I added any more info to my original post it would become just too confusing. |

Hi RamblinRose, in 1891 andi1901 he was a gas meter maker, in 1871 he was a tinplate worker in 1851 he was a tinman (sound like something from the Wizard of Oz!) |

my thinking on that was it might help to find him if he was mistranscribed on 1861, to see if he was married by then...but can't find him... have tried obvious mistranscriptions of name if anyone can think of something else? |

My thinking on a marriage before 1861 is - that as there are 3 children close together born c. 1866, 68 and 70 they were obviously rather fertile so there would have be 2 or 3 more children prior to those three. |

Just another problem on this elusive Jane - I can't find her death either! She was still alive in 1901 but I haven't bought credits for the 1911 census yet. I believe Thomas died 1909 and awaiting the cert. from GRO |

Jayne, re marrying two Janes being unlikely...well, no lol..I had a heck of a time with my gt gt grandfather's wife Annie ( I knew she was Annie before researching...and couldn't work out how she could still be on a census after she died! He married within the year of her death, another Annie...so may be worth thinking about |

Maybe Rose but I can't find one marriage for Thomas let alone 2! But I suppose it would explain the gap between George and Alfred and there's nothing to suggest that he'd marry the second Jane as he apparently didn't marry the first. |

Hi Rose, where was the possible Jane in 1911. It seems to me that she could have been anywhere in the UK given their travelling record. If there is one faintly possible I will buy some credits and spend a wet saturday afternoon catching up on some of my other family puzzles |

Are either of these marriages anything to do with your Thomas? |

Think it could be your Jane in Southwark cos there is also an Alfred Troke in Southwark with correct birthyear.Looks like living in same household. |
