I have located a Hy ( henry or harry !!) McGill in the 1851 Census who is listed as the nephew of John mcGill ( 1802) born in Middlesex area London in approx 1830. |

For both parties to carry the McGill surname it's safe to assume Hy is the son of one of John McGill's male siblings. (unless it's a comlicated issue and Hy is the base child of one of john's sisters!!) |

Now interestingly the image tells a little more than the transcript. Looks like Margaret is Hy's sibling. There is a ditto under Nephew, i think the enumerator is trying to say 'sibling' inferring the Nephew duplicate to be neice?? |
