I think it means that the parents of the child were not married, therefore the child is illegitimate. |

Surely if Ann was married to a Bailey then on Isabella Baileys baptism it wouldnt have only Ann Baileys name. |

I would say "widow" Michelle. Had no luck finding husband though. If youngest child Thomas was born around 1843 and Ann is unmarried in 1851, one of these could possibly be her husbands death reg. 1841 & 1851 Census state registration District as Tynemouth. But which one, if any, i don't know. Wish i could help further. |

1841 Census states Ann Bailey as "Mariners wife". So she had been married, 1851 states her as being unmarried. |
