Selena in South East London

Selena in South East London Report 23 Apr 2009 12:16

I think it means that the parents of the child were not married, therefore the child is illegitimate.

Just throwing this in the pot

WILLIAM BAILEY
Spouse: ELIZABETH ROBSON
Marriage: 14 AUG 1808 All Saints, Newcastle Upon Tyne, Northumberland, England

Battenburg

Battenburg Report 22 Apr 2009 21:51

Surely if Ann was married to a Bailey then on Isabella Baileys baptism it wouldnt have only Ann Baileys name.

Isabella must be a base born child

Also the middle name Dykes.
I have a child born with middle name which is from a grandmother

I would say "widow" Michelle. Had no luck finding husband though. If youngest child Thomas was born around 1843 and Ann is unmarried in 1851, one of these could possibly be her husbands death reg. 1841 & 1851 Census state registration District as Tynemouth. But which one, if any, i don't know. Wish i could help further.

ISABELLA BAILEY
Birth: 09 JAN 1837
Christening: 29 JAN 1837 Bethel Independent, North Shields, Northumberland, England

Parents:
Mother: ANN BAILEY

I think that this was before civil registration so there won't be a birth certificate.

Also, I think William is Isabella's grandfather.

PS, William couldn't have married in 1904 as he would be over 100, I think he was born around 1786 going by the census.

Choccy

Choccy Report 22 Apr 2009 19:42

Think Ann is probably his daughter on both the 1841 and 1851 census.
