So, Ethel, George and James were William's siblings. Whoever Thomas belonged to, he died in 1906

I'm wondering if Samuel Goyns and the William Stephen Goyns that died in 1904 were brothers. Perhaps Samuel's son was named for his Uncle.

Mystery solved - there must have been two William Stephen Goyns!!

This will probably be the William S Goyns from the 1901 census I posted as the ages tally up - he was 28 in 1901.

Which is why Mary Katherine is on her own in 1911.

So, that's at least three Goyns families in that area in 1901.

Oh my thats expensive. i will have to decide my priorities for 1911then before doing that!! I got so much to find out from other areas of tree too because unfortunatly i have nothing from about 1911 time to be able to go back. the searches continue. thanksfor your help

Apologies Laura - I realised that I had made a mistake with Martha Catherine on the 1911. Went back and checked and Mary, Eliza and Grace are together in Easington in 1911 - Thomas probably isn't one of her children as there is another Goyns family in the area.

Ethel, James and George belonged to the other Goyns family so I have taken them off the list of births.

that is so strange that catherine had thomas in lewisham but left grace and eliza aged only 13. can only presume that ethel, james, and george died. How much are credits? i have not used 1911 yet. thanks for the info

According to the 1901 census William S Goyns was born in Bodmin, Cornwall.

Eliza is still in Easington in 1911

This is interesting - looked for a death for his first wife.

Looks like he married Catherine M Knight but must have divorced her as she didn't die until 1934

Any ideas how i would find out her death record? Because i believe her husband William Goyns married 3 times in his life - Alice may have been the middle wife?! so i wondered whether they divorced or she passed away for him to remarry.
