I have never been able to find any births for this family only baptisms (all the children were baptised on the same day )
Also on this census it says British Subjects where born is tho its the only census that says this why is that?

but my grandfather totally dissapears until he appears again in 1906 when he marries my great nanna Alice Hooton in Nottingham.

On thier marriage cert it says his fathers name is William Webb and he was an Engineer (so i think it def is the right family im chasing) im just totally flumaxed as to where he dissapears to. I can't even find him in the 1901 census or the 1911 its so strange does anyone have any ideas plz? I would be so very grateful

Many thanks
Angie

my great nan fibbed about her age on the marriage certificate said she was 24 but really was only 19 and pregnant with my grandad (they lived next door to each other raised an eyebrow when I saw that lol)

Think he followed in his dads footsteps and was an engineer too thought I might have found him aged 10 at a boarding school but think the birth place was wrong (didnt say weybridge said somewhere else in Surrey) then thought I might have found him again on a ship aged around 17ish but not too sure he's so flipping elusive lol (wonder where I get that from now lol)

Thank u anyway Fairthorn think ill leave it again tonight and get my cert in the morn when grumpys gone to work lol.

Nite sweet dreams and thank u very much appreciated xxxxxxxxx

I would say that he was working overseas maybe South Africa or India, need to search passenger lists.

When and where was your father born, does that give a clue??

Have you found any of the family (ie your grandfather's brothers and sisters) in 1901 or 1911 which may give more info as to where they were born?

Hi Everyone xxxxxxxxxxx

Thank u all for your replies.

Thats another weird thing ive tracked all of them (my great grandfathers parents and siblings through out the census's) but he simply dissapeared!!!!!!!

cant find him on the 1911 census or the 1901 census neither can I find my grand dad on the 1911 census despite him being born in 1907 or his mother!!!!!!!!! (tho I do have my great nan on the 1901 census and she is living with her father in lodgings with people whom witnessed her marriage 5 years later tho at a different address that is on the marriage cert)

its just so weird and I can't understand why they would say they were british subjects when ive managed to track them before that!!!!!!!! very strange lol

I can't find his death either grrrrrrrrrr thought I had found it in 1924 but he turned out to be the wrong James Webb.

Thank u all for your help i really do appreciate it xxxxxxxxxx looks like ill have to shelve my Webb's again for a little while (boohoo lol for the 3rd time now tut lol)

Hi Janice

ty so much xxxx

my grandads name was John herny Arthur Webb born 1907 nottingham
tho weirdly enough dad told me his dads name was Harry !!!!

also everyone thought my dads name was Harry all his friends call him that it was a sort of nickname even tho he was born as frederick henry so maybe
I did use credits for them above but it says she is single? so i didnt know whether it was my grandad and great nan.

I have also seen that Weymouth entry but as im really rubbish at geography wasnt sure if chertsey was the right place as it says on the census was born at Weybridge is this the same place?

thank u so very much for all your help im driving myself nuts wish i could pop up to heaven just for a hour n question them all lol

HI Hooch

you can check places on www.multimap.com and also
http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/index.html

Weybridge is in Surrey and Chertsey is right next door
Weymouth is a seaside town in Dorset miles away.
