Hi, I've been on here a few times, my great, great grandmother Mary Florence robins, married a John Buckley in 1912 on the 21st december. I have the marriage certificate in front of me at the moment. It is rumoured that Mary's family were from spain. I would just like to know how I go about finding out how true this is? If it helps I have her father being down as Ephriam Robins, a farm labourer. Mary was residing in a villiage called Church Eaton, now in Staffordshire, then district of newport, shropshire at the time of marriage. Its her grandaughter who told me she is from, or her family are from spain. Thanks for any help, I keep hitting dead ends!! arrgh! Oh and it says she was 26 at time of marriage.

With Ephraim mother and father living with them on the 1891 census and being born Cheswardine they are obviously not Spanish so i would look at Harriette as being the possible link to Spain, not on the 1891 census their is a child (Charlotte Ransom age 7 Relation: Stepdaughter this could mean that either Harriette was married before or had the child out of wedlock.

Thanks for the information, it is quite interesting, I never would have found it on my own!! The Spanish link would appear to be very distant then, haha the rumour was that our family descended from gypsies in spain!!

Would the 1911 entry that states harrietts 25 year old daughter as florrie be Mary? Their year of birth appears to be the same and Mary's middle name is florence???

Also who is Ellen Robins related to? what is she to harriette and is she a relation of harriettes husband, Ephriem?
