	Having looked at the censuses I think Aileen means her maiden name was Lily.

	Aileen - you say your gran became a Parsons - did she marry William? If so, do you have any idea when?

	This seems likely if she was born In the Manchester area Births Mar 1894 Lilly Ada Salford 8d 190 Note the different spelling of her surname. Lily is usually the spelling of a christian name

	Looks like possibly a spelling mistake on Joan's birth reg, if this is her. Births Mar 1927 Parsons Robert (Lilly) Salford 8d 552 Births Sep 1928 Lilly Ronald (Lilly) Salford 8d 395 or Births Dec 1930 LILLEY Ronald (Lilley) Manchester S. 8d 4 Births Dec 1931 >> Parsons Joan (Lily) Barton I. 8c 681 Aileen, you do need to give all the info you have -- for instance, you can see your mum's birth certificate, but we can't, so we don't know what year your mum was born, or where, etc. Is that her birth above there? Are the other children in the right order, so would they be your mum's brothers do you think? It doesn't look like William and Ada married. Would this be William's death? 	Hold on - why did I just reply to a post from January 2009?? I don't even know where I found it ... Ah ... I did a board search for Ronald Parsons http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards.asp?wci=thread&tk=1176022 and I wandered off to six other things, then read the thread I'd opened, paid no attention to where it had come from ... and voilà. ;)
