CAN ANYONE HELP ME FIND A FAMILY ON THE 1911 CENSUS PLEASE?
I HAVE SEARCHED MYSELF BUT MAYBE I AM NOT DOING SOMETHING PROPERLY, HERE ARE THE DETAILS _
WILLIAM THOMAS DANIEL WORBOYS BORN ABT 1874
MATILDA (WIFE) WORBOYS BORN ABT 1875 ....THEIR LAST KNOWN ADDRESS IN 1903 WAS 57 STANLEY ROAD WEST HAM , STRATFORD.
3 DAUGHTERS, MATILDA BORN 1895
ANN BORN 1898
MARY ANN 1901
AND A SON WILLIAM JOHN 1903.............IN 1901 CENSUS THEY WERE LIVING IN WEST HAM , WHICH WAS WHERE THEY WERE ALL BORN (WILLIAM SENIOR WAS BORN IN BOW)

THANKYOU EVERYONE , BUT I ALREADY HAVE THEIR BIRTH AND MARRIAGES AND CHILDREN ETC...I AM TRYING TO LOCATE THEM IN THE 1911 CENSUS BUT CANT FIND A SINGLE ONE OF THEM....HELP!

I WASNT ASKING FOR ANYONE TO USE THEIR CREDITS - I WAS JUST ASKING IF THEY COULD HELP ME FIND THEM, I HAVE BEEN SEARCHING ON THE 1911 CENSUS MYSELF BUT THEY SEEM TO HAVE VANISHED - MAYBE I WAS NOT SEARCHING IN THE RIGHT WAY( SOMETIMES A PAIR OF FRESH EYES HELP) ALSO IF THEY HAVE EMIGRATED SOMEONE MIGHT SUGGEST WHERE I COULD START LOOKING!

I COULDNT FIND THEM ON THE ELLIS ISLAND .COM........BUT I DECIDED TO LOOK ON THE FIND MY PAST SITE AND FOUND THEM!!! THEY DID INDEED GO TO AMERICA (PORTLAND USA) IN 1906.....MYSTERY SOLVED!
(actually just checked the ellis island site, they was on there...i just didnt search properly)

the answer may be a simple mistranscription of the name ...... there are lots of mistakes on the 1911, just as there are on all other censuses.

Have you tried the following

1. Used the wild card *, eg, wor* or worb* .... this may now work on the 1911, it didn't work last week but I read somewhere that it was now available.


2. Click on Advance Search, enter as much information as possible (especially an unusual forename!), then just put , (ie a comma) in the Surname box ....... this will bring up a listing of names that you have to search through. But you are doing it on the free search!!!



Very often with all the censuses, you have to get sneaky to try to get around the mis-spellings and mis-transcriptions ............... it will become easier on the 1911 when one can search using the forename and birth information as you can on the earlier ones!
