Hi Dee

sorry for late reply

Your first message is the correct family ...bit confused about your second message.
I am trying to find details of charles and Mary after 1905 all the blower family appear to have disapeared after this time.
The last time I lost a large group people on one of my family lines they had gone enblock to USA perhaps that is what happened here.

RE 1891 CENSUS
The birthplaces of Charles and his siblings is a puzzle the only names and dates that match all appear to in and around the midlands

Hi Keith,

The 1901 census is confusing, however everything seems to fit with the 1891 census, apart from the surname???

I think this maybe the same family in 1881;

1881 England Census
about John Aldridge
Name: John Aldridge
Age: 26
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1855
Relation: Head
Spouse's Name: Sarah
Gender: Male
Where born: Suffolk, England

Civil Parish: Tottington Lower End
County/Island: Lancashire
Country: England

Street address: 13 India Street
Condition as to marriage: Married
Education:

Employment status: View Image
Occupation: Fireman

Registration district: Bury
Sub registration district: Holcombe
ED, institution, or vessel: 5a
Neighbors: View others on page
Household Members: Name Age
John Aldridge 26
Sarah Aldridge 25 (born Cornwall)
Laurie Bemicolt 21

In 1901 the surname is Aldred, Aldridge isn't far sounding from that.

Searching for a birth on Freebmd, I can see no Charles Blower/s, however I saw this;

Births Sep 1881
ALDRED Charles Bury 8c 476

Then births for;

Births Dec 1883
Blowers John James Bury 8c 555

Births Jun 1889
Blowers Sarah Jane Bury 8c 611

So I'm wondering if the family kept changing their name as I see no Aldred/Aldridge to tie into 1891, then no Blower/s to tie into the 1881/1901 census.

May I ask where you have your info from on your first post ie; parents names, birth years and birth places??

Hi,

I looked again at the 1881, seems that Laurie is sarahs sister, tracing them back I found this;

1861 England Census
about Laura Barnicoat
Name: Laura Barnicoat
Age: 7 Mo
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1860
Relation: Daughter
Father's Name: John
Mother's Name: Ann
Gender: Female
Where born: Falmouth, Cornwall, England

Civil Parish: Falmouth
Town: Falmouth
County/Island: Cornwall
Country: England

Street address:

Occupation:

Condition as to marriage: View Image

Registration district: Falmouth
Sub registration district: Falmouth
ED, institution, or vessel: 2
Neighbors: View others on page
Household schedule number: 59
Household Members: Name Age
John Barnicoat 44
Ann Barnicoat 33
Henry Barnicoat 14
Andrew Barnicoat 11
Edith Barnicoat 7
Sara Barnicoat 4
Ellen Barnicoat 2
Laura Barnicoat 7 Mo

All born in Cornwall.

I then found this marriage;

Surname First name(s) District Vol Page
Marriages Dec 1875
-------
ALDRIDGE John Rochdale 8e 36
BARNICOAT Sarah Rochdale 8e 36

Now I might be barking up the wrong tree, however I have a sneaky feeling this is your family.

BatMansDaughter Report 24 Feb 2009 06:37

Looking at the 1911 census, without paying for it and using "other members of household", it seems that Frank Aldred is now Frank Blowers and living with Henry Blowers, who was Aldred in 1901, Herbert seems to be in a Institution.

I can't see your Charles with wife Mary Ann under either name???

It maybe worth ordering Charles Aldreds birth cert and one of the Blowers birth certs, this would hopefully rule out or confirm my theory???

Families can be so confusing, and it's not unheard of for a family to change their name for unknown reasons, it just makes them very difficult to trace, and sooooo confusing.

Hi,

Me again,

Wondered if these could be the deaths of the parents;

Surname First name(s) Age District Vol Page

Deaths Sep 1908

BatMansDaughter Report 24 Feb 2009 07:36

John James Blowers married Rhoda Crompton in March 1910;

Using his name on the 1911 census, here his George, who was Aldred in 1901;

HOUSEHOLD BLOWERS GEORGE M 1898 13 Bury Lancashire
HOUSEHOLD BLOWERS RHODA F 1885 26 Bury Lancashire

Couldn't see Annie, so checked deaths, unfortunately I think I found her;

Deaths Jun 1909 (>99%)
----
BLOWERS Annie 9 Bury 8c 320

All the names from the 1901 census seem to tie up, just Charles to find next, I'll keep digging.

Could you tell me if Charles and Mary ann had children and what their names and year of births were, hopefully we could pick something up with this info??

Keith Report 25 Feb 2009 08:54

Hi Dee

Many thanks for the info a new pair of eyes and an open mind makes a lot of differance.
I think the family must have done a number of moonlight flits.

Its been quite some since i researched this line and i had to dig out my old notes to check what i had foundout
I had the birth info for the first 4 children with the exception of charles
I picked the information firstly from the 1891 census and charles marrige cert. and then bmd and Ancestry but i am allways wary about ancestry as over the years i have found a number of transcibing errors,
I have just checked the marriage cert for Charles and Mary it shows that Charles was living in WOOD RD ELTON and Mary in HALL ST SUMMERSEAT and I had family members living close to both address,s
Charles father is shown as JOHN BLOWERS and JOHN JAMES BLOWERS WAS A WITNESS .

I HAVE NO DETAILS OF MARY HAVING ANY CHILDREN AS I HAVE NO DETALS AFTER THE WEDDING IN 1905
YOU SAY YOU HAVE FOUND DETAILS OF CHARLES RETURNING IN 1916 DO YOU KNOW WERE FROM

Hi Dee

I have found a great deal of info on the siblings from 1901 onwards on bmd., but not a lot on Charles and mary .

I have a frank b1907 /d1908 and a linda b1909 there is also a george aged 4 who died in 1909 for whom I can find no birth these look like possible match,s but still no sighting of CHARLES OR MARY in bmd up to 1983.
So I am going to send for franks birth cert to see if there is a match
