Find Ancestors

Hi Katty1, Thank you for the info, i have them and my grandad samuel boe and his siblings,constance ,jane a nd charles on the 1891 census but can't seem to find them after this apart from charles living in fife aged 23 ,but his surname is written as bow,just don't know what happened to samuel between 1891 and 1920,tried all avenues ,war records,pension records etc,but he 's not anywhere to be found until 1920. regards jean

Was on Scotlands People and found....Samuel Davidson Boe, born 9 November 1874 @ 3 (llooks like pm). Born 3 high st, Cannongate District of Edinburgh.

Father John Boe - Clerk Railway Officer and mother Jessie Hunter.

Hi Catherine, thank you so much for all your help, I don't think this is samuel's mother as i have her in 1920 in colinton, edinburgh when she died. the censu's are the right ones ,this is samuel's father , i recognize names and areas where they were born,there is a David there maybe this is where the davidson comes from. jean

I would guess that his mothers maiden name is Davidson!

Hi Stephen, on his birth certificate it shows his middle name as davidson,. never been double barrelled, always surname as boe

Sorry Jean, I didn't see Boe either. Out of inrterest as Davidson & Boe are surnames, probably double barrel in this case. When did these 2 surnames come together? Was Samuel born as Davidson-Boe or did he change the name later in life?

Katty1, My grandmothers name was helen farnan, she was already married to james hynd when she met my grandfather and i don't think they were ever divorced, complicated isn't it. !!! jean

Hello Catherine, yes this is him and his family in 1891, can't find a marraige for him, he had 6 children with my grandmother ranging from 1918 till 1926, but i know they never married, he was also about 20 years older than my grandmother. jean
