i am still looking for my grandfather samuel davidson boe born in midlothian 1875, have him in 1891 living with his family in edinburgh , have searched evrywhere for him but he has just disapearred,tried different name spellings etc.next time i find him is on his children's birth certificates in 1921,just wondering if he dad more children than i already know about as he was in his 40's when he had my aunt. any help would be great. jean

Hello Catherine, yes this is him and his family in 1891, can't find a marraige for him, he had 6 children with my grandmother ranging from 1918 till 1926, but i know they never married, he was also about 20 years older than my grandmother. jean

Katty1, My grandmothers name was helen farnan, she was already married to james hynd when she met my grandfather and i don't think they were ever divorced, complicated isn't it. !!! jean

Sorry Jean, I didn't see Boe either. Out of inrterest as Davidson & Boe are surnames, probably double barrel in this case. When did these 2 surnames come together? Was Samuel born as Davidson-Boe or did he change the name later in life?

Hi Catherine, thank you so much for all your help, I don't think this is samuel's mother as i have her in 1920 in colinton, edinburgh when she died. the censu's are the right ones ,this is samuel's father , i recognize names and areas where they were born,there is a David there maybe this is where the davidson comes from. jean
