Can anybody help me my friends father was Patrick Joseph Kinsella who married a Catherine Walsh in St Albans Church, Liverpool 16th June 1942.
They had a child called Patrick Luke Walsh (called Luke) he was born 17th May 1944. Catherine died 17th September 1944 the child being 4 months old.
All Luke knows is that Catherine's mother Catherine (Kitty) Walsh adopted him and brought him up until he went into the army at 18 and lost touch with the nan due to him marrying a protestant girl they were devout catholics. He never found out what happened to his father Patrick Jospeh Kinsella and wonders why he never cared for him.

The other info we have are a undelivered letter to the father Kinsella stating the court details for the adoption hearing address was 45 Viola Street, Liverpool.

Marriage details state Catherine lived in 13 Milford Street, Liverpool prior to wedding and Patrick Kinsella lived at 14 Towsend Street, Liverpool his job was in the merchant sea service.

Anyone who could help us it would be greatly appreciated as Luke always wonders what happened to his father.

Thanks

I would start by buying the marriage cert, this will give Patricks age and his fathers name.

Cathy

Cathy Report 2 Dec 2008 16:13

I will check because I am sure they said they had the marriage cert, if not will definitely get that and get back to you all.
Cheers

Diddy here is the information from the Marriage Cert hope you could point us in the right direction

Cafe Waitress

Father - Luke Walsh (Deceased) - Seaman - Merchant

Groom: Patrick Joseph Kinsella Age 24 Batchelor
Seaman - Merchant Navy
Address: 14 Townsend Street
Father - Joseph Kinsella (Deceased) - Private in Kings Royal Rifles

Dads birth certificate says name LUKE only (not Patrick Luke) - Dated 31st May, 1944
Born 17th May 1944 at 107 Rice Lane (not sure if that is Walton Hospital?)

Just noticed as well if we went on the Patrick born 1917 then the death of his father in 1915 wouldn't be right.

If you go to http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/ you can purchase the death cert on line for about £7 and takes about a week to arrive, I've not orfered a death cert before, but should be pretty straightforward. With regards to burials cemetrys etc you could try local papers in Southampton.

I have just found his death in the archive paper in southampton giving me the funeral parlour and the church were the service took place. When I read his death he was an ex cunard QE2 worker. I have passed the info onto Luke and he can email the church and funeral parlour will let you know if we get any further information. But thankyou so much we have our fingers crossed. Although do you find that churches/funeral parlours give out much info anyway will give it go and let you all know how we get on.

We have hit a brick wall with the funeral parlour. They have stated the following :-
I remeber Joseph Patrick, or 'Tony' as he was known, Kinsella. I met him when his wife Hilda, or 'Kay', died in 1997. I don't know much about him except that he was 86 when he died and had worked as a steward for Cunard on the QE2. His ashes are intered at Bursledon Cemetery with Kay's. I have no record of any other family.
I hope this is helpful
The church were the service took place still has not replied. The archive in the local Southampton deaths paper doesnt go back to 1997 to check out Hilda or 'Kay' death either.
I find it really strange that they both called themselves different names him TONY and her KAY???
Any ideas what to do next ????
Thanks
