I think that is the only logical step left is to order John Williams marriage cert and see what it holds...after all another certificate cant hurt either way.

Under normal circumstances I might have thought that she didn't know enough about her father to record it properly but she registered her mothers death and clearly put "widow of Isaac Wilcox" so its not that either. :( xx

Middle names aren't always mentioned.Look at my example i had in my own tree. His birth record had no mention of Daniel.

It must be so frustrating for you cos everything fits to the Elizabeth with father Isaac even down to his occupation-which wasn't hugely common.

Looking through the 1881 couldn't see any Henry Wilcox who were anything to do with guns?If it helps i had a ancestor whose marriage cert came and her father was recorded on the cert as David. On all census records he was listed as Daniel-except 1!I think it would be an idea like you said to get 1 of the sibling marriage certs and see what father's name is listed as.

They didn't always list if the father had died.It sometimes depended if the question was asked or if the couple gave the info.

Gemma Report 1 Dec 2008 00:13

Thats what I'm thinking...Its very strange. John Williams marriage I havn't got the certificate for as I didn't need it as I had the birth and the census returns so maybe it might be worth seeing what he called his dad on his in 1885 as Isaac died as Isaac in 1879.

I had got it Michelle but it is all appreciated as at some point I know we will hit on something I will have overlooked. :) xx

Well that is def them on the 1891 as the occupation of Charles matches the marriage cert.

He is listed as an Electro Plate Finisher and age fits.

So we are back to Elizabeth who is listed with same details as the 1881 Elizabeth....??

Gemma

Gemma Report 1 Dec 2008 00:03

On the mar cert for Elizabeth and Charles in 1888 Charles is 23 and an electroplate worker.

I can't find any record of Isaac having a middle name at all and the Henry on the certificate isn't marked as deseaced although Isaac was by that point. xx

Gemma Report 30 Nov 2008 00:38

Maybe if we approach this differently...can anybody find an Elizabeth Wilcox born approx 1867 whos father is Henry who may have been the woman who married Charles Foster? The only ones I can find are in Wales but in 1891 is with her parents and one in Hanley in Staffordshire who is the 20 years younger wife of a Henry...Could Henry also be Isaac? The proffession fits? xx

Cheers Barbara. They are a very confusing bunch. All I can think is that she moved right out of the area and married but I have sent messages to everyone on here with a Sarah OR Elizabeth born within a 5 year difference of mine down as born anywhere in the country just in case they put her place of birth down as where she married because they couldn't find her birth and so far I still have no leads. :( xx

Sarah Ann Elizabeth was actually born in 1873 6d/165. Where as My Sarah Elizabeth was born in 1867 6d/205 if that helps any? xx

Gemma

Gemma Report 29 Nov 2008 23:29

I thought that too Barbara but she isnt connected... Sarah Anns parents were William and Sarah...and she too had a brother named John William. These Wilcoxs are sent to test me. I do appreciate it but I have looked into her as best as I can and discounted her, even on her marriage certificate it states her father is William. Thanks though. xx
