hi, I have a death cert for my grandmothers brother, it states he died from phthisis, 4 months. he was age 15, in 1905. when he died. Can anyone tell me what phthisis is or was please |

This is really strange, my great great grandmother died of this, she was born in 1847 and died in 1886. I thought it was some kind of cancer. |

Thanks all, I dont think he worked in the mines, in 1901 he was working as a page. his father was a publican, his brother, died a few month earlier, I have the burial record but not his death cert, sad, 2 sons lost in 2 month, |

hi, I have just done a search on BMD to find the ref for the death of John Jordan found at archives. MF 871 Benwell John Jordan age 17, March 1st 1905, address 84 Mill Lane I found the parish record of his death, but cant find the ref, can anyone help. Also that leaves on brother unaccounted for, here is the parish record of his birth, BIRTH 1891 JAMES HENRY JORDAN, 12 JULY 1891 St SILAS BYKER ADDRESS 46 MOWBRE ST is there anyway I can trace him after the 1901 census record. |

Hi thanks to all who replied, I could never find a death ref for him either, I do have the cert for his brother, I will contact the local reg office and see if they can find it. |
