thank you everyone for your help. It looks like George Webber Barlow was my dads cousin. I am at the moment emailing one of his daughters who says they have some information which her father was looking up a while before his passed away.
Still not had any joy on John Barlow yet but he did travel to Canada to his brother Fred.

Just spoke to dad, I must of jogged his memory as he remembers them visiting when he was about 14 year old.

George was definatly my dads cousin. I have just spoken to my uncle to confirm this. He went to america once to visit him. I am going to try and get alittle more info from my aunt about John Barlow as my uncle says she used to write to him when she was young ( but she keeps getting alittle confused with names)

Hi and thank you all for all your help so far. Yesterday I phoned my dad to see if I had the bit of information right. He said he knew that was in Winnipeg and the other was in California (but think they both went to Winnipeg first). He also said that one of their children was a Professor (must of been Fred's child). Imagine my suprise when I read the info you have all given.
As for the census 1901 (UK) my dads grandad was called Levi and his mother was called Lena. I know that there was also an Edith as I used to visit her in Heywood when I was a child.

Do you happen to have any info on the marriage of Fred and Jessie as I think they may of been married in Bury or Rochdale England before they went away.

Also if there was a marriage for John Barlow.

Can't find John anywhere. It certainly sounds like Fred Lisa. Will keep looking.

Alviegal, Fred's age matches up. I wonder if it is the same person? There is a Social Security Death Record for George, but I didn't want to post everything I see, in case this isn't the correct family.
