Thanks for all the advice on this one. I went ahead and ordered the death certificate anyway and you were all absolutely right. There was no extra info (like parents names or date of birth). Hey ho - I'll learn by my mistakes! |

Thanks Sue - that is the birth certificate I have just received and yes, it does look really promising but I just would have liked to have been able to double check the info on there. The mother on the birth certificate is Thomasine nee Sellers but the address says Trimdon Colliery. |

Ozi - He was a miner which I'm afraid (as is becoming the theme here) is THE most common occupation of that period in that County. :( |

I have that - thanks Sue - that's how I can guess at his year of birth and how I traced his weeding certificate but unfortunatley neither of those led to finding his birth and you wouldn't believe how many Robert Redden's had sons named John!!!!! (and all of them in the same county) lol |

What I need is his date of birth - will that be on the death certificate? |

Findmypast should have the registration details, and once the GRO reference is known, the certificate can be ordered from the GRO online. |

No, the WW1 death certs can be searched on Findmypast. Also try searching for the death at cwgc.org. |
