Thanks for possible deaths for William Watson. I think it has to be one of them - will follow that up later.

I googled Therfield Burials and found a brilliant website - http://homepage.ntlworld.com/martin.hagger1/Therfield/index.htm

There is all sorts on there - 1841 census for the Dale family as follows:-

Mary Ann was bapt 5.9.1824 in Therfield as MARY ANN WAKE - married William WATSON - married ISAAC DALE.

I have also found Mary Ann on the 1841 census from this website, so I checked back again with Ancestry with the folio nos. etc but there was still nothing, so I now believe that the 1841 census for Therfield has not been transcribed onto Ancestry. That is why I could not find anything.

This has been a very exciting few days for me as I have found out so much, especially with your help for which I am extremely grateful. If there is anything at all I could perhaps help you with, please let me know. I live in Lincolnshire in the UK.

I do think number 4 is too old!! Unfortunately the age is not given for the earlier ones. But they are also all before baby Isaac was born, which increases the chance that he was Isaac sr. son!!

Sylvia I have just got back from a long day out to find you have been very busy.

I cannot thank you enough for all the research you have dione for me.

So it would appear from the 1871 census that Isaac Dale was Mary's lodger. Mary had a child Isaac Watson born 1868 (nothing on IGI). Husband William Watson died sometime in the 1860s as Mary was given as a widow. Isaac could have been Isaac Dale's child and they married later in 1873 and by 1881 he had taken the name Isaac Dale. Sounds very promising.

Thanks Sylvia for the 1861. I had not got that one. I had the 1881 where Isaac had a 13 year old son Isaac and a new wife (much older than himself who was Mary Ann (nee Watson) whom I was researching until I stumbled on a new line). I have not been able to find 13 year old Isaac's mother yet. She must have died before the 1881 census.

I had not spotted they were both orphans. It does help to have a fresh pair of eyes.

So I checked on FreeBMD to find Eliza's death -

I did not think to check if Martha was on the IGI. Silly me. However, I had already checked the IGI for children of Joseph and Sarah and found the following:-

I hope someone may be able to find what I cannot.

I am looking for parents of Isaac Dale b.1842 Therfield, Hertfordshire. I have Isaac on the 1851 census with his grandparents Joseph Dale b.1785 and Sarah b.1791 and sister Martha b.1847 living in Therfield.

I cannot find Joseph and Sarah anywhere on the 1841 census to see if they had any children living with them, who could possibly be Isaac’s father.
