I would appreciate any help finding a marriage in the usa between Richard Ragland/ragler and Sarah Ragland/ragler. Sarah was a British subject and Richard was born in Virginia USA. in the 1880 general census they had 2 children aged 5 and 1.

I'm a little confused--is it Richard Ragland or Sarah ? (maiden name). What name did you find them in 1880?

Ellen Christina Ragland married either John Henry Brockbank or John Hall Fell, Dec. Q 1897, Ulverston. (8e 1281)

According to the 1880 U.S. Census, both children were born in New York. They were residing in Brooklyn, Kings County in 1880. Now, if they married in Brooklyn, you would have to contact Brooklyn for the marriage record--abt. 1875.

Thanks everyone! Sorry Joan, the surname is Ragland for Richard and Sarahs maiden name is unknown, hence trying to track down marriage certificate.
Sarah did go on to marry John Hall FELL in the UK, but by then she is listed as Ragland, still no maiden name!

And I thought that Sarah married John Middleton.
Her father's name and her maiden should be on that cert.

I believe it was Sarah's daughter Ellen who Married John Hall Fell. Sarah married John Middleton.

Annette, why don't you just order the marriage certificate for John Middleton & Sarah Ragland. It would give you her maiden name and her father's name. It's June quarter 1888, 8e 1146, Ulverston.

It's possible that Richard may have been married before. There was two other Ragland families living next door, Benjamin and William--possible brothers
