When will the 1911 census be released then?

Charlotte Report 19 Aug 2008 12:24

No, the certificate as far as my aunt can remember (my aunt was the grand daughter of William Henry Carter) has no father on it. Although my grandad may have it I shall get him to look for it. I think I will speak to William's last remaining son and ask if he remembers his grandparents or anything of them.

Thank you for your help it is very much appreciated I had started to give up hope, until I read the success stories on the message boards. I do have another relative I am struggling to find if you would be kind enough to help?

Many thanks

Charlotte, you may have to wait till 1911 census comes out to get any more accurate info.

I don't want to rush time on but I am waiting for it to find out what happened to a great aunt who was in care in 1901!!

RutlandBelle Report 19 Aug 2008 12:21

Charlotte, I think you may have found him, but even if you got the cert it may not tell you his father's name.

Thank you,

This is becoming very interesting. I'm wondering how I can confirm this is the William Carter I am searching for. How accurate do you think this match is.

Many Thanks

The two families must have known each other, as William Eyles was born Lamburn, Berks as was William Carter senior and Charles Eyles who was boarding with him in 1881 seems to be the father of William Eyles.

There is a Sarah Eyles with the family in 1891 age 13, she must be the sister of William Eyles, not daugh.

There is a William Henry Carter, registered in Jan, Feb, March quarter of 1896. Perhaps his birth wasn't registered straight away.

Vol 4a pg 113.

I did wonder how it was possible for Sarah to be William Eyles' daughter, this was confusing me, but makes sense now.

Am looking for the birth

Hi, I was just looking at previous census returns and in 1881 William Carter born Lamburn is a boarder in a house in West Ham and one of the other boarders is called Charles Eyles.

Charlotte, that's what it looks like but I still can't find a birth for William Henry Carter/Eyles, can you?
Did you not that Kate was born Staffordshire and William Carter senior in Lamburn, Berks.

Also I haven't worked out who Sarah Eyles born 1878, Lamburn is. It says she is 'daug' but she can't be William Eyles daug as he is too young, as she is born Lamburn she is probably William Carter's daug and the enumerator or someone else has enetred the wrong surname.

Yes I looked yesterday. So in that case are we saying that William was born out of wedlock and then Kate and William married?

thank you for your help

Charlott have you looked at the actual image? It does say that William H Carter is son in relationship to the head of the household who is William Eyles.

This happened to me with my grandmother, her name was Lawson but she is daughter to John Betts on the image, she was illegetimate but hturned out to be her father

Charlotte Report 19 Aug 2008 11:40

Thats the information I looked at yesterday and it would seem most feesible, so in that case Kate Eyles was a Carter by maiden name rather than by marriage. Could this also mean that William Carter was not William Eyles' biological son?

Charlotte, the only way to see parent's names is to buy the birth certificate but if he was illegitimate the father's name probably won't be on it.

Thank you, perhaps that is him. How do I go about finding the other information like mother's and father's name? Do you know if people on here can look at the actual Birth certificate to get this information for me?

Re above 1901 census:RG13; Piece: 1580; Folio: 19; Page: 29.

if you look at the image then William H Carter is the son of William Eyles and Kate C Eyles.
William Carter age 49 is father in law so must be the father of Kate.
