i have my g grandmothers wedding cert and death cert but cant find her or her father on the census.

marriage cert=4/8/1912 mitcham surrey
elizabeth mary ann hone age 22 married frederick william hawkins age 23.
address-1 harris yard fair green.
father of elizabeth= walter james hone-cycle maker.

death cert=15/11/1938 elizabeth mary ann hawkins age 49
i dont have a birth of elizabeth. she must of been born around 1889-1890.

im confused please help

I would go with the Eliza birth.

The 1891 census was taken on April 5th, if she was two weeks old at the time the Lambeth registration can't be the right one whereas the Croydon one fits just right.

The fact that she used Elizabeth on her marriage cert might mean she preferred to be known by the name (and there was no check to ensure the name used appears on the birth certificate).

hi all
just recieved the eliza birth cert.it does state that walter james hone is her father and eliza is her mother.
still not sure if this is the right birth to the marriage and death certs that i have because it would work out that she would of been 47 yrs in 1938 when she died, but on the death cert it says she was 49. and on the marriage cert she would of been 21 but it says she was 22. what do you all recon!!!!

What was Walter's occupation on the birth cert?

Do the addresses match any other info you have?

I would be fairly happy with it if I were you as info on age on death is only as good as the informant.

You don't give her date of birth from the birth cert but if she was 22 on 4 Aug 1912 she could have been born anytime between 5.8.1889 and 3.8.1891.

walters occupation on the birth cert says general labourer.
eliza's date of birth on cert says 20th march 1891.and it says on cert that it was registered on 13th april 1891.

Well the birth cert firts with the age at marriage so that's OK.

If she was 49 when she died she would have been born between 16.11.1888 and 14.11.1890 so it's likely that whoever gave her age at death was not 100% sure. That's reasonable - I think a lot of children (even grown up children) did not necessarily know how old their parents were.

The details from here would give you a further double-check. The ages on the marriage cert should match the ages on the 1891 census that you have for her parents. And again, occupations and addresses might help too.

on the death cert it says the occupation= wife of charles hawkins (which is her 2nd husband who took her married surname). surely he would of known her age?
