i am trying to find info on a MARTHA JENKS, in the 1881 and 1901 census she was JENKS but in 1891 she was JINKS probably misstyped. in the 1881 census her mum was APPLEY H born in BASCHURCH, in the 1901 her mum was APTIN born in BILSTON and in the 1891 her mum was SOPHIE H born in BASCHURCH but i looked at the original census and it said her name was APTIN can some one help im really really confused, surely he couldnt have had 3 wives in that many years?

In 1891 the image looks like Alpin H rather than Sophie - I would think she was the same woman, although the name is interesting

Have checked the 1891 and it has been mistranscribed I think it should be Aptin ot Aplin. So I think it is the same person - very unusual name .

when i lokked on the census her name was SOPHIE H but i lokked at the real image and it said that her name was APTIN

thats what i thinkbut it still doesnt seem to add up

i kno APTIN was born in 1838 and APPLEY in 1834 so i think that may be wrong but thank you for looking

The Appleana I found was christened in 1839 but she may have been born weeks, months or even a year or two before.

Have you got Martha's birth certificate? That should give you her mother's maiden name.

Getting George Jinks marriage certificate will also give you his bride's fathers name which will confirm (or not) the above info.

no i havent as i cant find a birth for her i know when she was born but i cant find her to get a volume or page no to order her birth cert

she died before her 82 or 83 birthday
