I have a William Thomas Woolley born abt 1816. In 1851 living with wife Ann b1819 both born Milton Kent. They have with them Osborn (5) William Thomas (2) and George Richard (6 wks) Address Queenborough, Sheppey Kent. If anybody can help me with this please I would appreciate it, I have looked on the 1881 Cenus but can't find them.

I looked for Osborn* with wife Emma on censuses .... they showed up on the 1881 and 1901 census. BUT it was Osborn F Matson (Osborn Fenner Matson on the 1901).

I looked up births on freebmd, and an Osborn Tanner Matson was born 1849, Milton, Kent!

Hi Sylvia, thank you for all of this, there was a son on the 1851 Census William Thomas Woolley but it says he was born in 1849 (2) Now the parents were married in 1841 do you think it could have been 12 meant on the census. Most first born get named after the father, what do you think?
Also the George you found is the correct one too.
I will now look for a death for William

Is it possible to look for the family of Emma and James Groves please, they were married in 1871.
James was born 1816 I think in Greenwich, Kent and Emma (nee Clatworthy) in 1827 Milton. I tried looking for the 1881 census but couldn't find anything.

I am not sure about this one Sylvia. I have James marrying Emma in dec qtr 1871 Milton
Kent and it appears on here that he was a widow in 1871 and 1881. Can only find one death for Emma at that time in Kent and she was only 30. Maybe I have the wrong area of birth!

I wondered if he was a widower for the 1871 census, married Emma, and she died before the 1881 Census. That makes some sort of sense.

I looked for Emma Clatworthy born Kent and couldn't find her in 1871 or 1861.

I haven't got anything on Emma for those two either.
I had another look for a marriage for James before Emmas but came up with nothing. Have to have another go sometime

Hy Sylvia, I didn't notice these last two but what you have shown me gels with something that I found out but can't connect it for sure with my family.
Emma is the daughter of Mary Ann Phillips and John William Clatworthy who was born 1810 Maidstone. It looks like John has died because he is not with them here. I was thinking he was perhaps the son of Mary Thomas c1750 & John Clatworthy c1779. If so he would have been a late child as Mary would have been 58 and that is a bit old, the other one was their son John who was born 1782 Maidstone but I have not looked into a marriage for him maybe I should have done so. I have tried looking for the birth of John B1810 but can't find anything on IGI. Emma & Clara are their two children so not the one I am looking for but very interesting.
